Protecting wiring from critters

I took my boat out of the water for the winter and prior to heading over to the landing I did my usual walk around. I noticed that the insulation on several of the electrical lines was missing. I keep the boat on a lake and I am sure that some muskrat, otter or beaver enjoyed a nice snack. What do you all use to protect your wiring that runs from the transom to the engine?
