How do I remove the back cushion from the front curved seat?

I have a Parti Kraft pontoon and I need to remove the back cushion from the front curved seat.

I see there are screws that go through the aluminum railing into the back of the cushions. There also appears to be a fastener or special item between the seat section and the back cushion. When I use a mirror I see holes drilled through the plastic section of the seat and there is a shiny metal item which appears to go from the seat to the back cushion. I have tried different screw drivers and other bits but nothing seems to loosen the items.

Are these items screws, bolts, or pin?

Is there a special tool to remove these items? It seems strange a special tool would be used though.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
